Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics is seeking a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Texas. You will empower deaf and hard-of-hearing students to achieve academic success, become independent, and gain equitable access to education.

Your role includes creating IEPs, delivering targeted instruction, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. You will advocate for accommodations and assistive technologies, support transitions to post-secondary environments, and help students

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field required; master's preferred but not required.
• Texas Educator Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing required; additional related certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with IDEA and IEP processes essential.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required; bilingual skills a plus but not mandatory.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with IEP teams to address communication and learning needs.
• Provide specialized instruction in language development, auditory skills, and social-emotional learning.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to meet IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and families.
• Advocate for and implement accommodations and assistive technologies to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities.
• Support transition goals by teaching self-advocacy and use of adaptive technologies for post-secondary education and vocational settings.
• Foster student independence and problem-solving skills in school, home, and community settings.
• Promote safety by addressing accessibility needs and teaching essential skills.
