Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics in Texas is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to empower students and schools, delivering specialized instruction and collaborating with IEP teams.

You will develop individualized education programs, monitor progress, advocate for accessibility, and support transitions to independent living with emphasis on safety and inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or Special Education required.
• Master’s degree in Education for Students with Hearing Impairments preferred but not required.
• Texas Educator Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing required.
• Additional related certifications (e.g., Auditory-Verbal Therapy) are a plus but not mandatory.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required; bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with IEP teams.
• Deliver targeted instruction in language development and auditory skills.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, SLPs, audiologists, and families.
• Promote accessibility with accommodations and assistive technologies (FM systems, captioning).
• Support transition goals for post-secondary education, vocational settings, and independent living.
• Foster independence and self-advocacy in students; teach safety and problem-solving skills.
