Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to assist a Grade 8 student with a disability, supporting instruction and daily needs in the classroom. The role includes collaborating with teachers, monitoring safety, and helping with activities of daily living as required.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and ongoing district training; state standards and PD hours apply. Benefits are included for ESP staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours required and able to assist in instructional activities.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Experience with students with disabilities or special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group instructional support under teacher direction.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care as needed.
• Monitor safety during recess, transport, and classroom activities.
• Record student progress and communicate with teachers and families.
• Assist with adaptations, materials, and standardized testing as assigned.
