Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Paraeducator to provide one-on-one support to a 4th grade student with a disability and assist a certificated teacher with instructional and day-to-day activities during the school day.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate, 28 hours of district-provided training within specified timeframes, and adherence to protective supervision and safety standards.

Qualifications

• State General Paraeducator Certificate required
• Staff must complete 28 hours of training (FCS) within four months of hire
• Background checks (WSP/FBI) and fingerprints required

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups per teacher directions
• Assist with activities of daily living and self-care tasks
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transit between classes
• Maintain student records and track progress toward IEP goals and objectives
• Assist with classroom management and adapt materials for students with disabilities
