Job summary

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program in New York City is seeking a Group Leader for the Manhattan/Bronx after-school program to engage groups of 10–15 students in arts, STEM, and SEL activities and ensure a safe, structured environment. You'll collaborate with site staff to plan lessons, document attendance, follow NYC DOE policies, and complete required SACC training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18+ with at least one year of college or post-high school experience.
• 2+ years of experience with school-aged children in educational or youth settings.
• Interest in working with elementary/middle school students.
• Background in education, youth development, recreation, arts, or social services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility, and sense of humor.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Commitment to completing required SACC training and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate enrichment, recreation, and academic support activities.
• Lead and supervise groups of 10–15 students.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment with positive behavior strategies.
• Submit lesson plans and activity outlines as directed.
• Document attendance and compliance information for NYSED and DOH.
• Collaborate with staff to support student engagement and smooth transitions.
• Participate in professional development and trainings.
• Follow all policies and safety guidelines, including fingerprinting clearances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
