Job summary

Shasta County is seeking an experienced Employment & Training Worker Supervisor to plan, organize, and supervise a unit delivering employment services and public assistance eligibility.

The role requires strong leadership, contract management, and collaborative communication with community partners, employers, and staff. The ideal candidate will ensure program compliance, provide training, and drive service quality in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of full-time experience comparable to an Eligibility Supervisor with Shasta County.
• One (1) year of full-time experience comparable to an Employment & Training Worker III with Shasta County AND completion of fifteen (15) semester or twenty-two (22) quarter college units in career planning, vocational guidance principles, personality development, occupational testing and measurement, or counseling preparation.
• Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience comparable to an Employment & Training Worker III with Shasta County.
• Two (2) years of full-time experience comparable to an Employment & Training Worker II with Shasta County AND completion of fifteen (15) semester or twenty-two (22) quarter college units in career planning, vocational guidance principles, personality development, occupational testing and measurement, or counseling preparation.
• Thirty-six (36) months of full-time experience comparable to an Employment & Training Worker II with Shasta County.

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and supervises a unit of employees who provide employment and training services to eligible clients and/or determine eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Selects, trains, evaluates and disciplines subordinate staff, and addresses performance and personnel problems.
• Meets with employees on group and individual basis to discuss departmental rules, regulations and policies.
• Reviews cases for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness, and to ensure the quality of client services.
• Collaborates with other supervisors, management, and staff to coordinate activities.
• Represents the department at meetings and conferences; participates in special studies or research projects.
• Interviews complainants and makes determinations for program participants not in compliance.
• Uses a personal computer and automated systems; attends supervisory meetings and training.
