Abode Services is seeking an Employment Specialist to provide worksite placement, case management, and employment services to program participants. You will recruit work sites for placements and employment opportunities, and support participants through job fairs, applications, resume development, and ongoing employment coaching.

The role emphasizes Individual Placement and Support (IPS) as the evidence-based framework, with a commitment to inclusive practices, equity, and assisting participants

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, or related field or equivalent field experience.
• 2 years of experience providing employment and job development skills to people with disabilities.
• 1 year of field experience working with people with serious mental illness, individuals with co-occurring disorder and/or the homeless population.

Responsabilités

• Provide worksite placement and retention services to participants.
• Recruit work sites for potential work experience placement and/or employment.
• Develop employment workshops to help participants increase their skills.
• Assist participants in securing full and part-time employment.
• Accompany participants to job fairs, interviews, and submitting applications; help create and revise resumes.
• Work with the team to develop participant-driven employment goals.
• Coach participants on work-related issues and promote self-advocacy.
• Assist with information about Social Security, Medicaid, and other entitlements.
• Outreach to local employers to develop permanent employment and internships.
• Form partnerships with local employers to provide supportive work environments.
