Job Description – CORE Employment Specialist

Position Summary: Responsible for assessing, providing workforce development and coaching, and placing participants in the workforce in the CORE Hub 2 region that includes Kanawha, Boone, Logan, and Mingo counties. Provides support to other CORE service areas. Reports to the Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment program director.

Duties/Position Accountabilities:

Part I – Performance Competencies:

  1. Responsible – works independently, safely, and appropriately. Demonstrates problem-solving and problem-prevention skills.
  2. Sensitive – displays sensitivity to the needs of patients and co-workers. Demonstrates good communication skills and empathy.
  3. Timely – recognizes time as valuable and responds promptly to needs.
  4. Accurate – works carefully with attention to detail.
  5. Coordinated – organizes and delivers service efficiently. Demonstrates good organization skills and resource utilization.
  6. Thorough – meets all position requirements, evaluates, and follows up on services.
  7. Follows dress code policy.
  8. Maintains confidentiality regarding patients and employees.

Part II – Organizational Teamwork Competencies:

  1. Displays and encourages sensitivity to the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  2. Treats others with consideration, courtesy, and respect.
  3. Performs duties willingly and shares information with co-workers.
  4. Remains composed and acts to restore calm in stressful situations.

Part III – Organizational Support Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains good attendance per UP&S policy.
  2. Reports to work on time and is ready for duty.
  3. Uses timesheets accurately for each pay period.

Part IV – Work Role Responsibilities:

  1. Engages with participants, establishing professional and collaborative relationships aimed at employment.
  2. Assesses employability skills, barriers, and vocational functioning using motivational interviewing, background info, and work experiences.
  3. Provides job development, resume assistance, and conducts job searches tailored to participants' interests.
  4. Maintains weekly contact with caseload for coaching and progress review.
  5. Builds partnerships with community agencies, referral sources, and employers.
  6. Meets monthly program goals: 10 referrals, 5 placements, 1 employer partner.
  7. Engages in outreach to build community awareness and resources.
  8. Supports employers in maintaining healthy workplaces.
  9. Submits accurate reports to program leadership.
  10. Researches local labor market information.
  11. Attends staff meetings and adheres to procedures.
  12. Manages multiple tasks effectively.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in human resources, social services, business management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in recruitment, business management, social services, or human resources.

Preferred Qualifications: Education and experience in related areas.
