Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION – CORE Employment Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assessing, providing workforce development and coaching, and placing participants in the workforce in the CORE Hub 1 region, which includes Cabell, Lincoln, Putnam, and Wayne counties. Provides support to other CORE service areas. Reports to the Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment program director.

Duties/Position Accountabilities:

Part I – Performance Competencies:

  • Responsible – works independently, demonstrates problem-solving and prevention skills.

  • Timely – responds promptly to needs.
  • Accurate – works carefully with attention to detail.
  • Coordinated – organizes and delivers services efficiently.

  • Follows dress code policy and maintains confidentiality.

Part II – Organizational Teamwork Competencies:

  • Displays sensitivity, courtesy, and respect.
  • Performs duties with initiative and shares information.
  • Remains composed under stress and exercises good judgment.
  • Cooperates with teams and communicates effectively.
  • Completes mandatory training and education.

Part III – Organizational Support Responsibilities:

  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
  • Uses timesheets accurately.

Part IV – Work Role Responsibilities:

  • Engages with participants, builds trust, and supports employment goals.
  • Assesses skills and barriers, provides job development and coaching.
  • Maintains weekly contact with participants and documents progress.
  • Builds community partnerships and participates in outreach.
  • Meets program goals: referrals, placements, and employer partnerships.
  • Supports employers and reports as required.
  • Researches labor market info, attends meetings, and manages multiple tasks.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions: Ability to work remotely during health crises with necessary technology and a private workspace.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and internal equity.
