Employment Services Technician 1/2 located in Anchorage!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15.
Employment Services Technicians deliver core employment, reemployment, and business services while administering SAEEI, SAEF, WIOA Title 1B, and STEP programs. In this role, you will learn eligibility criteria, program guidelines, case management systems, and how to support the creation and operation of Registered Apprenticeship programs. You will assist employers and apprentices with apprenticeship development, workforce preparation, labor-market information, and ongoing caseload management. You will also help ensure individuals overcome employment barriers by coordinating training resources and connecting them with appropriate services. This position engages employers, apprentices, and partner agencies to support workforce development across the region.

The Department of Labor & Workforce Development offers strong opportunities for professional growth, with a clear path for advancement and a commitment to developing staff at every level. The work schedule consists of 7.5 hour days, with a 37.5 hour workweek. We are open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm. Upon passing probation, you will be eligible for an Alternate Work Week Schedule that will provide every other Friday or Monday off.

Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, and using and completing forms.
One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.
One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
Two years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

This is a flexibly staffed position with the opportunity to advance to Level 2 upon management’s assessment that the incumbent is performing adequately and has successfully completed training as an Employment Services Technician 1.
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
A list of three (3) professional references, one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, employer, and current phone number(s).
A copy of your last three (3) performance evaluations, or two (2) letters of reference if evaluations are unavailable.
A copy of your current, valid Driver’s License.
