Job summary

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is hiring an Employment Services Coordinator to support the transition of candidates from Recruitment & Examinations through pre-boarding and into employment. You will monitor pre-boarding status, verify documentation, and act as the main liaison between Employment Services and Recruitment & Examinations to ensure timely processing.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience: Three years' experience in administrative or professional work. Two (2) years of experience coordinating or conducting pre-boarding and/or onboarding activities within an HR environment.
  • Selective Qualification recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill, or ability). No substitution is allowed for a selective qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the transition of selected candidates from Recruitment & Examinations to Employment Services, ensuring required documentation, approvals, and candidate information are received timely and in accordance with established hiring and pre-boarding processes.
  • Monitor candidate pre-boarding status, follow up on outstanding requirements, identify potential delays, and communicate timely updates to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Review pre-boarding and employment documentation for accuracy and completeness and coordinate follow-up or corrective action when discrepancies or missing information are identified.
  • Confirm required pre-employment steps and supporting documentation have been satisfactorily completed before candidates advance through the Employment Services and onboarding process.
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination between Employment Services and Recruitment & Examinations regarding candidate status, outstanding requirements, process updates, and routine hiring-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate tracking tools, reports, records, and documentation related to candidate pre-boarding, onboarding, and Employment Services activities.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking an Employment Services Coordinator. The Employment Services Coordinator supports the Maryland Transit Administration's Employment Services function by coordinating the transition of selected candidates from Recruitment & Examinations through pre-boarding and into employment. Reporting to the Employment Services Manager, this position serves as a key point of coordination between Employment Services and Recruitment & Examinations to ensure required candidate information, documentation, approvals, and employment-related requirements are received and processed accurately and within established timeframes.

The Employment Services Coordinator monitors pre-boarding activities, follows up on outstanding requirements, identifies missing or incomplete information, and works collaboratively with Recruitment, candidates, hiring managers, and other HR stakeholders to address issues that may affect processing or anticipated start dates. The position also supports onboarding and other Employment Services activities necessary to facilitate a smooth and timely transition into employment.

Qualifications

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Licenses & Certifications

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
