Job summary

United Future seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Employment Litigation practice in Boston. The role focuses on handling sophisticated employment disputes, advising employers, and managing complex litigation with a collaborative, entrepreneurial team.

The ideal candidate has a J.D. from an accredited law school, Massachusetts bar in good standing, and 3–7 years of labor and employment litigation experience, including depositions, pleadings, and discovery.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record
• Active Massachusetts Bar admission, in good standing
• 3-7 years of substantive labor and employment litigation experience
• Experience handling employment-related disputes including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour matters, and other workplace-related issues
• Strong experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and related litigation documents
• Experience taking and defending depositions
• Experience appearing in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Experience providing employment counseling and advice to management teams is preferred
• Large law firm or employment boutique experience preferred
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in a broad range of employment litigation matters in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, and arbitration
• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
• Conduct witness interviews, legal research, and case analysis
• Take and defend depositions and assist with trial and hearing preparation
• Develop litigation strategy and work directly with clients to achieve favorable outcomes
• Advise employers on employment law compliance and workplace risk management issues
• Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's labor and employment practice on complex matters
• Manage case files and litigation deadlines from inception through resolution
