Job summary

Jobot in California is seeking an Employment Defense Attorney with 4+ years of litigation experience to handle a diverse caseload from pleadings through trial.

You will work on wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour matters, advise clients, draft motions, and participate in hearings, mediations, and trials while building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar membership.
• 4+ years of employment defense litigation experience.
• Solid grasp of CA state and federal court procedures.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Independent, detail-oriented, and a true team player.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of employment defense matters including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage-hour issues.
• Handle all phases of litigation from pleadings to discovery, trial, and appeal when needed.
• Advise clients directly and keep them informed at every step.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses with thorough legal research.
• Appear at hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Lead settlement negotiations and ADR to secure the best outcomes.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to keep cases moving.

Job Details

You’ll step into a diverse caseload, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour and get real ownership from pleadings through trial. This isn't a firm looking for someone to just fill a seat; they want an attorney who's sharp, strategic, and ready to build strong client relationships.

What you'll be doing:

• Managing a varied caseload of employment defense matters (wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and more)
• Handling all phases of litigation pleadings, discovery, trial, and appeal when needed
• Advising clients directly and keeping them in the loop every step of the way
• Drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery responses backed by sharp legal research
• Appearing at hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Leading settlement negotiations and ADR to get clients the best possible outcomes
• Teaming up with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to keep cases moving smoothly

What you bring:
