Job summary

MITRE is seeking a qualified attorney to join the Office of General Counsel in a role focusing on employment law, workplace investigations, and compliance across federal, state, and local regulations. You will advise Human Resources, assist with litigation, and help shape policies to mitigate risk while supporting MITRE’s mission.

The position requires a Juris Doctor from an accredited school, Virginia bar admission or eligibility, and at least two years of practicing attorney experience;

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• At least 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Member of the state bar in good standing.
• Practicing attorney licensed to practice in VA, or able to get limited corporate counsel admission
• Experience in internal and external investigations and employment matters.
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• On-site work requirement: 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to HR on employment-related matters, including investigations, benefits, performance management, and terminations.
• Advise on compliance with employment laws at federal, state, and local levels.
• Assist in managing employment-related litigation and EEOC matters.
• Support MITRE policies, procedures, and training to mitigate risk.
• Collaborate with Chief Employment Counsel on workforce initiatives.
• Work with MITRE leaders on contracts and risk resolution.
