MITER Brands is seeking an Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment to serve as the primary legal advisor on employment matters, with a strong emphasis on California law and PAGA. This role partners with HR, leadership, and operations across a multi-state manufacturing environment to deliver strategic, practical guidance.

The ideal candidate has extensive California experience, demonstrated litigation management, and a business-focused mindset that balances risk with operational needs.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience with California labor and employment law in a sophisticated environment.
• Strong employment litigation management experience, incl. working with outside counsel.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business guidance across jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Lead labor and employment matters across the organization; advise on compliance with federal, state, and local laws, esp. California.
• Oversee employment-related litigation, agency investigations, and manage outside counsel and budgets.
• Draft and update policies, handbooks, and training; ensure multi-state compliance with emphasis on California wage/hour and PAGA.
• Partner with HR and executives to deliver practical, risk-balanced legal solutions aligned with business goals.
