Job summary

Motive seeks a Senior Counsel, Employment to provide strategic legal guidance across the employee lifecycle for a distributed, multi-jurisdictional workforce. Reporting to the AGC, Corporate, this role advises People, managers and executives on employment matters, manages legal risk, and helps shape scalable employment policies in a fast-growing tech company.

Qualifications

J.D. degree or equivalent and active U.S. state license.
Extensive employment-law experience (≥10 years) in firms and in-house teams.
Strong drafting and legal-communication skills.
Experience advising on equity incentives and multi-jurisdictional workforce matters.
Ability to provide practical, risk-calibrated guidance to non-legal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Advise on a broad range of employment matters for a distributed workforce across jurisdictions.
Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements and policies.
Oversee employment-related claims, audits, and investigations with internal/external counsel.
Monitor regulatory developments and update policies, processes, and training accordingly.
Partner with People, Recruiting, and business leaders on workforce and employee-relations matters.
Manage external counsel to ensure efficient handling and risk alignment.
