Job summary

Krokidas & Bluestein LLP, a Boston-based boutique law firm, seeks an Employment and Litigation Associate with 4–8 years of experience in employment law or litigation. The candidate will handle the lifecycle of cases, including drafting discovery and motions, taking depositions, and arguing in state and federal courts and before agencies.

Strong writing, exceptional work ethic, and ability to work independently or in a team are essential. MA bar membership or waiver is required.

Employment and Litigation Associate

Boston law firm Krokidas & Bluestein LLP, a premier boutique firm, is seeking a highly qualified associate to join its busy Employment and Litigation practices. The firm provides legal services to nonprofit, for-profit, public clients and individuals in the areas of employment, litigation, health and human services, real estate development and finance, affordable housing, and education.

Qualified candidates will have 4-8 years of experience in employment law or litigation. For the right candidate, we may consider applicants with more or less experience.

Qualified candidates will have litigation experience, including in the areas of general litigation, business litigation and/or employment litigation, with prior responsibility for handling matters throughout the life-cycle of a case, including drafting written discovery, pleadings, dispositive and non-dispositive motions and other court-related filings, taking and defending depositions, arguing motions in state and federal court and before state agencies, preparing cases for trial and participating in alternative dispute resolution.

Qualified candidates will have experience in employment law, including:

• Advising employer and employee clients on issues that routinely arise in the employment relationship, including wage and hour issues, leaves of absences, reasonable accommodations, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and restrictive covenant issues;
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws, including the Massachusetts Wage Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Massachusetts Earned Sick Time law, pay equity and transparency laws, among others;
• Reviewing and drafting employment-related documents, including offer letters, employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements, and employee handbooks and policies; and
• Litigating employment matters, including matters involving wage and hour issues, discrimination, retaliation, and restrictive covenant disputes in state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

The successful candidate will have top academic credentials, exceptional writing skills, a superior work ethic, the ability to think strategically and the ability to assume responsibility for hands on employment and litigation matters. The candidate will also be able to work both independently and as part of a team and will have the ability to work independently with appropriate oversight. A business-minded individual with a desire to grow their practice over the long-term will be highly valued.

Massachusetts bar membership or the ability to waive in is required.

The compensation range for this position, which will be determined based on a candidate’s relevant experience and productivity, is $130,000 to $180,000.
