Socket.dev in Abilene, TX seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to support HR matters, gather and maintain documents, and assist with policy development and investigations.

You will handle communication strategies, conduct interviews, and help with EEO and diversity initiatives while ensuring accuracy in records and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • At least three years of professional human resource administration required with experience in employee relations preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills for interviewing in person, phone and Skype
  • Computer knowledge with emphasis on Word and Excel and Google Suite
  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and work within deadlines
  • Payroll experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the company’s employee relations and communication strategies including progressive discipline, conflict resolution and employee satisfaction.
  • Handles routine human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
  • Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and diversity initiatives.
  • Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, and compensation; collects information and reports results to the Human Resources Director.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, and human resources.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1,, organizational charts, and employee handbooks.
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.
  • Accept and adapt easily to change
