Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods in El Segundo, California, is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to guide a broad set of HR matters, investigations, performance management, and policy interpretation. You’ll work closely with leadership, Operations, and Legal to ensure fair processes and legal compliance across both retail stores and corporate operations.

You will partner with store and corporate leaders, HR, and outside counsel to foster a respectful, inclusive workplace while delivering strong employee

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of progressive employee relations or HR experience.
• Experience supporting a multi-state retail or complex workforce.
• HR certifications (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle employee relations and investigations across retail and corporate locations.
• Review disciplinary actions, notices, and termination documentation.
• Provide guidance on performance management and policy interpretation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
