Job summary

Maximus is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to support the centralized Employee Relations team. You will lead investigations, advise managers on performance, terminations, policy interpretation, and escalate complex matters to senior ER leadership.

This role requires knowledge of EEO, ADA, FMLA, strong communication, Excel proficiency, and collaboration with HR, Legal and stakeholders to ensure consistent, ethical resolutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of HR-related experience.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of human capital practices, techniques, and standards.
• Strong judgment, multitasking, problem solving and time management.
• Proficient in Excel; experience with case management systems preferred.
• Ability to evaluate facts and deliver findings on sensitive cases with clear communication.
• Exceptional attention to detail in documentation, process and follow-up.
• Enjoys partnering with HR colleagues, Legal, and stakeholders to implement solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage moderately complex workplace investigations, partnering with HR, Legal, HR Compliance and drafting investigative reports.
• Provide guidance to people managers on performance management, involuntary terminations, conflict resolution, policy interpretation and escalation.
• Monitor ER entry point for guidance requests and escalate complex matters to senior ER leadership.
• Possess working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA).
• Recommend actions to resolve conflicts and create/monitor aftercare plans.
• Assist with various ER division projects and programs.
• Assess risk and escalate/report issues with ethical judgment in line with Maximus values.
