Job summary

Maximus is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join the centralized ER team. The role leads moderately complex workplace investigations and partners with HR, Legal, and Compliance to draft reports and advise people managers.

You will apply knowledge of employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA), manage risk with ethical judgment, support ER projects, and ensure thorough documentation and timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years HR experience
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of human capital practices, techniques, and standards
• Good judgment, organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills
• Strong working knowledge of Excel required and experience with case management systems preferred
• Ability to evaluate facts and deliver findings on sensitive cases through clear communication
• Exceptional attention to detail in documentation, processes, and follow up
• Enjoys partnering with HR, Legal, and other stakeholders to implement solutions and achieve business results

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage moderately complex workplace investigations and draft comprehensive investigative reports
• Provide guidance to people managers on performance management, terminations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation; escalate complex matters
• Monitor ER entry point for guidance requests via the people services portal and escalate to Sr. ER Partner as needed
• Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA)
• Recommend appropriate actions to resolve conflicts and create aftercare plans
• Assist with ER division projects and programs
• Assess risk with ethical judgment and escalate/manage/report issues timely
