Job summary

Consumers Energy in Michigan seeks an Employee Relations Consultant to investigate internal issues, support EEOC compliance, ADA testing guidance, and affirmative action administration.

You will partner with HR, Legal, and operations to manage case lifecycles, perform risk assessments, prepare reports, and advise leaders on corrective actions in a confidential, fair manner. Hybrid schedule with on-site days and relocation options.

• Knowledge of laws and regulations impacting selection testing and affirmative action with ability to develop and administer programs to meet compliance components for corporation.

Responsibilities

• Manage employee relations cases through the complete case lifecycle including intake, triage, risk assessment, investigation, documentation, resolution recommendations, and case closure.
• Conduct workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, respectful workplace concerns, workplace misconduct and policy violations, ethics concerns, conflicts of interest, violence and threats, substance abuse, attendance and conduct issues, performance concerns, management practices, accommodation-related concerns, and employee complaints and grievances.
• Conduct investigatory interviews and gather, review, and analyze relevant documentation, records, electronic evidence, and other information.
• Identify legal, regulatory, operational, labor, and employee relations risks and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Develop investigation plans, analyze facts, determine findings, and prepare clear and concise investigation reports and executive summaries.
• Facilitate fact review meetings, corrective action discussions, and investigation closeout meetings.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to leaders and key stakeholders.
• Maintain case documentation and investigative records within HR Acuity and other approved case management systems.
• Monitor case trends and identify opportunities for proactive interventions, training, policy updates, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure investigations are conducted in a fair, objective, timely, and confidential manner.
• Partner with Human Resources Business Partners, Labor Relations, Legal, Compliance, Security, and business leaders to assess concerns, evaluate risk, and develop appropriate resolution strategies.
