Job summary

The State of North Carolina's Department of Transportation, Division of Human Resources, seeks an Agency HR Consultant III to act as the principal technical advisor on employee relations matters, including counseling, discipline, and the employee assistance program. The ER Consultant analyzes, monitors, and advises on policy compliance across the division.

Salary range NC18 $63,927 - $111,871; strong communication, policy interpretation, and investigative skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 4 years of experience required; or High school or GED diploma and 6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Recommends appropriate employment actions to maintain a productive work environment.
• Interprets and implements State and NCDOT policies regarding disciplinary actions, grievances, performance management, workplace violence, and mediation.
• Provides consultation to managers, supervisors, and employees on performance, conduct, and discipline issues;
• Conducts training on ER policies and practices.
• Gathers information and assists with preparing formal disciplinary actions ensuring cases are properly documented.
• Conducts timely investigations of workplace violence.
