LJA Surveying is hiring a Survey Technician to prepare metes and bounds descriptions and related mapping products for boundary surveys. The role emphasizes accuracy, data gathering, and collaboration with a diverse client base across multiple project types.

The position requires 5–10 years of surveying experience, CADD proficiency, and strong communication skills. It offers an employee-ownership culture, with a focus on growth, training, and long-term career development.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of survey experience.
• CADD experience is required and DOT experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills both oral and written.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients.
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Project scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Gathers data used for creation of topographical maps.
• Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
• Compare survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine adequacy of data.
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information.
• Prepare topographic and contour maps of land surveyed, including site features and other relevant information such as charts, drawings, and survey notes.
