Job description

Position Overview

As a Survey Technician at LJA Surveying, you will be responsible for preparing metes and bounds descriptions for boundary survey projects, exhibits, and various mapping products.

Typical Day

• Gather data used for the creation of topographic maps
• Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans
• Compare survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine the adequacy of data
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant information
• Prepare topographic and contour maps of land surveyed, including site features and other relevant information such as charts, drawings, and survey notes

Required Education / License / Certifications

• Surveyor‑in‑Training certification by the Florida Board of Land Surveying, or
• Level II Certified Survey Technician certification

Required Qualifications

• 5‑10 years of survey experience
• Project scheduling experience
• CADD experience is required and DOT experience is a plus
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
