Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Substation Helper to assist journeymen in planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of substation components. You will use hand and power tools to install conduits, cable, and duct banks, and work with high and low voltage systems, ensuring safety and quality on site.

Minimum qualifications include NCCER certification and at least 2 years of related experience. The role emphasizes hands-on training and adherence to plans, safety rules, and company standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in substations or electrical construction preferred.
• Ability to follow plans, specifications and industry standards.
• Must be able to read layouts and read measurements accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman with planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of substation components.
• Use hand and power tools to install conduits, cable and duct banks.
• Install switches, relays, circuit breakers, and grounding leads.
• Work with high and low voltage systems and test continuity.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in safety programs.
