Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role.
• Ability to understand, follow and convey written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Field experience in the chosen discipline.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, electrical and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to select type and size of pipe, conduit and related material per job specs.
• Assist skilled craftsman to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install conduit.
• Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites.
• Disassemble malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and inspect mechanisms and circuitry for defects.
• Assist with replacement or repair of defective parts using hand tools.
• Assist in layout work.
• Learn to install, maintain, test and repair electrical systems including conduits, cables, wires and related equipment.
• Assist with opening switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards.
• Identify defective components using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments.
• Learn to operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment.
• Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads.
• Assist workers in unloading, positioning and installing columns and beams according to plans.
