Job summary

National Fuel Gas Company in Dayton, Ohio is seeking an Employee & Labor Relations Specialist to support labor relations across OH, PA, NY and to help administer collective bargaining agreements. You will partner with management, HR, and union representatives to interpret contracts, investigate issues, and assist in negotiations.

Some travel to Dayton-area locations and occasional trips to PA/NY will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and leadership capability.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to present data clearly.
• High level of organization, documentation, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary HR partner supporting labor relations across unionized operations in OH, PA, and NY.
• Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliant contract administration.
• Lead disciplinary investigations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution with management and union leadership.
• Support contract negotiations, wage administration, and ongoing compliance with labor laws.
• Partner with managers and HR to provide guidance on labor and employee relations matters.
• Travel periodically to Dayton-area locations, with occasional travel to PA and NY as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role supports the administration of collective bargaining agreements and day‑to‑day labor relations activities. This role serves as a key liaison between management, Human Resources, and union representatives, ensuring consistent application of labor contracts, policies, and employment laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and leadership capability
• Strong analytical skills with ability to present data in a clear and concise manner
• High level of organization, documentation, and confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior labor relations experience is preferred but candidates with strong employee relations, HR management, operations leadership, or unionized workforce experience are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base salary range for this position is $62,500 – $90,000. Exempt positions will also be eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan.

The specific base pay offered to a successful applicant will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors.
