Job summary

Southwestern Oregon Community College seeks an Employee Engagement Specialist to partner with the HR leadership in fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture through engagement initiatives, recognition programs, onboarding and professional development.

The role splits roughly 50/30/20 across engagement, onboarding coordination and general HR functions, requiring strong communication, data literacy, confidentiality and the ability to collaborate with campus stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, OD, business, education or related field; may be substituted by 3+ years HR experience.
• 3+ years progressive experience in employee engagement, organizational development or training.
• Experience planning and implementing employee programs and events.
• Experience facilitating training, workshops or professional development activities.
• Strong communication skills in English; professional written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of HR policies, employment laws and collective bargaining basics.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel; familiarity with NEOGOV and Jenzabar.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements and evaluates employee engagement programs and wellness initiatives.
• Leads onboarding coordination and new hire orientation activities.
• Maintains confidential personnel records and supports HR operations.
• Supports leadership development, recognition programs and culture strategies.
• Collects and analyzes turnover/retention metrics and reports findings.
• Develops internal communications and employee engagement channels.
• Collaborates with campus stakeholders to enhance onboarding experiences.
