Patterson-Bryant is hiring an experienced Benefits Service Specialist in Michigan to support clients with comprehensive benefits administration. You will interact with carriers, prepare proposals, and manage renewals while delivering accurate, high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires deep knowledge of medical and ancillary benefits, strong analytical skills, and the ability to multitask across renewal cycles and client requests while maintaining excellent client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of employee benefits administration experience.
• Strong working knowledge of employee benefits including medical and ancillary lines.
• Experience with fully insured and self-insured plans.
• Advanced to expert Excel skills (formulas, tables, VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Strong Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills.
• Experience preparing and reviewing benefit spreadsheets, proposals, and presentations.
• Knowledge of benefits contract language and related regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide benefits administration support to clients and their employees.
• Obtain quotes from carriers for new benefit plans and options.
• Prepare and submit RFPs for health and welfare plans.
• Review carrier proposals and RFP responses for alignment with client needs.
• Negotiate with carriers for competitive pricing on renewals and new business.
• Gather information via pre-renewal questionnaires from clients.
• Prepare and maintain benefit renewal spreadsheets, proposals, and materials.
• Create open enrollment materials and employee communications.
• Process policy change requests and new business paperwork.
• Perform invoice and census audits.
• Research benchmarking data to create client reports.
• Respond promptly to client inquiries and service requests.
• Handle incoming calls with professionalism and care.
• Produce accurate, clear, and organized work; exceed client expectations.
