Job summary

Highstreet Insurance and Financial Services is seeking an Enrollment Specialist / Technical Assistant to join our Employee Benefits team in Michigan. The role focuses on enrollment processing, carrier communications, data management, and service tasks with a strong emphasis on organized, detail-oriented work.

You will support COBRA notices, disability claims, and maintenance of SPD documents while providing back-up to the Client Management team as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of employee benefits experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical, dental, vision, life and disability plans.
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience with benefits software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process employee enrollments, changes, and terminations with insurance carriers.
• Troubleshoot benefit administration system and carrier integration issues.
• Process COBRA notices and qualifying events with third-party vendors.
• Submit, track, and provide status updates on disability claims.
• Maintain accurate client and employee information in the system.
• Update employee communication and enrollment materials.

Employee Benefits: Enrollment Specialist / Technical Assistant

In this role you'll be a key part of our Employee Benefits client management team by handling administration, carrier communications, data management, and other service tasks. If you enjoy consistently following processes, are organized and detail-oriented, and excel at providing exceptional service, keep reading!

Compensation & Benefits for this role include:

• Hourly pay or Salary based on experience
• Full benefits package (Medical, Dental, Life, Disability, FSA/HSA, 401k match, generous PTO plan and company holiday schedule)

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have:

• At least 1 year of employee benefits experience preferred
• Basic understanding of plans including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability
• Organizational skill and detail-oriented personality
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to use computers and software: prior experience with Applied Epic, Employee Navigator, and EB carrier portals is a BIG plus, but not required.

In this role you’ll be expected to:

• Process employee enrollments, changes, and terminations with insurance carriers
• Troubleshoot benefit administration system and carrier integration issues
• Process COBRA notices and qualifying events with third-party vendors
• Submit, track, and provide status updates on disability claims
• Maintain accurate client and employee information in the system
• Update employee communication and enrollment materials
  
• Help with carrier service requests and administrative issues
  
• Update and maintain Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and related documents
• Provide backup to the Client Management team as needed
