Job summary

Denison ISD is seeking an Employee Benefits Specialist to coordinate the district's benefits program, maintain records, and assist employees in utilizing benefits effectively. The role focuses on health, dental, life, and reimbursement plans, with emphasis on compliance and clear communication.

You will collaborate with HR and insurance carriers, prepare notices, enroll new staff, and support open enrollment while maintaining confidential records and accurate data entry.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of benefits administration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of benefits programs and applicable laws.
• Ability to interpret and disseminate insurance information to individuals and groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present information to individuals and groups.
• Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance.
• Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit programs (health, dental, life, medical reimbursement).
• Respond to benefit inquiries and resolve issues with employees courteously.
• Provide COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA notices and certificates as required.
• Assist with benefits orientation and enrollment for new employees.
• Support annual open enrollment with materials and presentations.
• Prepare and balance monthly premium statements and liaise with accounting.
