Qualifications

• Demonstrated lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery.
• Completion of a recognized Peer Support Specialist training program or certification.
• Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge of mental health and behavioral health concepts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer-based emotional support and encouragement to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use disorders.
• Collaborate with the agency treatment team to support continuity of care and community reintegration.
• Participate in unit staff meetings and treatment activities as assigned.
• Attend client meetings, conferences, and trainings as needed.
• Coordinate with community agencies to educate and assist clients in obtaining benefits.
• Observe and enforce agency policies and report unusual events.
• Facilitate group sessions that build skills, support, and community connection.
• Work with healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions per policy.
