Job summary

Anew Behavioral Health, Ohio LLC is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for Substance Use Disorder to provide peer support in both individual and group settings. You’ll help clients develop recovery plans, link to community resources, and support ongoing sobriety with empathy and guidance.

The role emphasizes lived experience and collaboration with clinical teams to ensure holistic care. Candidates should have SUD recovery experience and CPRS certification preferred or pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with SUD/addiction required.
• Peer Support Certification preferred or must be obtained within X months of hire.
• Knowledge of the 12-step program and other recovery methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering empathy and support.
• Ability to work with diverse populations with complex needs.
• Basic knowledge of community resources for recovery (housing, employment, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals with substance use disorders.
• Assist clients in identifying and setting recovery goals and navigating challenges.
• Facilitate peer recovery groups or support meetings.
• Act as a role model promoting healthy coping strategies and lifestyle changes.
• Help clients access housing, employment, healthcare, and social services by linking to resources.
• Develop individualized recovery plans and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Educate clients about recovery, coping skills, relapse prevention, and sobriety.
• Encourage participation in support groups and 12-step programs.
• Support identification and management of triggers and cravings.
• Maintain confidential records of interactions and progress.
• Participate in case meetings and supervise team training.
• Track and report on client outcomes for program evaluation.
• Work with counselors, therapists, and case managers for holistic care.
• Other duties as assigned.
