Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking Nursing Assistants I/II to provide empathetic care to patients, families and visitors under the supervision of a RN. They will document care, monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities and help maintain a respectful environment.

Qualified candidates demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs while upholding high standards of excellence.

Qualifications

• Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved CNA training program (preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings as directed and assist with basic care tasks.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rates.
• Attend to daily living activities and personal care to support patient comfort.
• Feed patients requiring assistance and maintain dignity and confidentiality.
• Document care and patient information accurately.
• Ensure a clean, sanitary, orderly clinical environment.
