INcompass Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Support Specialist to assist residents with mental illness and substance use disorders in a residential setting. The role emphasizes safety, daily living support, and compassionate care within a trauma-informed framework.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and the ability to de-escalate crises. Evening, weekend, and holiday coverage is required as part of a 32-hour, full-time second shift (2 PM–10

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional related certification preferred.
• Experience with individuals with mental illness/substance use disorders, in residential or community settings.
• Knowledge of mental health and SUD symptoms, treatment approaches, and recovery principles.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with residents and colleagues.
• Ability to stay calm in crisis and de-escalate challenging behaviors.
• Understanding of cultural diversity to work with diverse individuals.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for resident transport as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support, including daily living activities and medication management.
• Assist with apartment inspections and report health and safety issues.
• Collaborate with treatment team to develop individualized service plans.
• Facilitate group activities to promote socialization and skill-building.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete incident reports with confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
• Coordinate with external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and confidentiality.
• Provide direct treatment as per agency policy.
