Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking an Instructional Assistant (emotional support) in Saddleback Valley Unified School District. The role supports students with special needs, under the supervision of the Emotional Support Special Education Teacher, including implementing IEP/ PBSP plans and assisting with medical needs in collaboration with school health staff.

Shift is Monday to Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Experience in special education or behavioral healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, modeling appropriate behavior and providing emotional support.
• Assist in implementing IEP and PBSP as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with students' personal and medical needs with school health staff.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Understand team goals and support team decisions and cooperate with others.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques under teacher direction as appropriate.
