Job summary

Devereux is hiring an Instructional Assistant (Emotional Support) in Saddleback Valley Unified School District. You will work with students with special needs, support IEPs and PBSPs, and assist with personal and medical needs under teacher supervision.

Must be 18+, HS diploma or GED, and prior special education or behavioral health experience is preferred. The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm, with a starting wage of $20.60 per hour and potential up to $21.57 per hour based on

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED required, Associates degree preferred.
• Previous experience in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, modeling appropriate behavior, providing emotional support, and adopting a patient and friendly attitude.
• Assist in implementing students’ IEP and PBSP as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, including medical needs in conjunction with health staff.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Understand team goals and own role within the team and support team decisions.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques under the direction of the teacher.
