Job summary

COWI in San Diego is hiring a Junior Structural Engineer to support bridge and marine infrastructure projects. You will work with the Technical Director and Project Managers to prepare design basis documents, calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.

The role requires an MS in Structural Engineering with at least two years of professional experience, a CA P.E. or ability to obtain swiftly, and willingness to travel for fieldwork.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in Structural Engineering.
• CA PE license or ability to obtain quickly after employment.
• 2+ years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Experience in ports, harbors, coastal, bridges, tunnels or heavy civils.
• Willingness to travel and perform required fieldwork.
• Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks on structural engineering projects including bridge and marine infrastructure.
• Conduct structural analysis and design for reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel and timber.
• Prepare design basis documents, calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Perform construction administration and site inspections.
