Job summary

Pacific Life in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Junior Public Credit Analyst to join the Public Bond Team. You will perform fundamental credit analysis on public fixed income investments backing our General Account obligations.

You will work with a team of 11 investment professionals to calibrate risk across opportunities, develop relationships with rating agencies, and gain exposure to multiple industries and credit decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in credit research, investment analysis, banking, valuation, accounting, consulting, or related financial field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of fixed income and global capital markets.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and collaborate with Public Bond Credit Analysts in the analysis of fundamental credit research on investment grade and high yield corporate credits.
• Support senior analysts in developing Buy/Sell/Hold Recommendations for inclusion in the company’s General Account.
• Work closely with the entire 11-person Public Credit Analysis team to determine the best opportunities for our portfolio.
• Develop and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts, credit rating agencies, and other information providers.
• Gain exposure to multiple industries, portfolio management, and credit investment decision-making while working alongside experienced investment professionals.
