Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled scientist/engineer to contribute to optics and photonics research, modeling, experimentation, and data analysis. The role supports projects across imaging, system design, testing, and prototyping with collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Interest in Optical Imaging Systems, Optical System Design, Optical System Analysis and Test, or Prototyping of Advanced Optical Systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects as an individual technical contributor using modeling/simulation tools, set up experiments, and collect data in optical labs.
  • Collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems for sponsors.
  • Document work in formal and informal technical reports, presentations, conference proceedings, and journal articles.
