Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory/APL in Laurel, MD is seeking a Senior Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to join the Imaging Systems Group. You will lead design, analysis, and testing of complex optical and electro-optic subsystems for high-performance imaging and sensing solutions, balancing performance, SWaP, and cost in a collaborative environment.

You will contribute to prototype development, field testing, and maturation of system designs through IR&D efforts. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in optical engineering or related field required.
  • 6+ years of optical design, integration, and testing experience.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance with potential TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, analysis, and optimization of optical/electro-optic subsystems.
  • Support prototype systems, testbeds, and verification activities.
  • Develop test strategies, performance metrics, and lab characterization.
  • Contribute to IR&D efforts and mature system designs.
