Job summary

Berglund Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Construction to help deliver commercial projects from inception to closeout. This role works with Project Managers, Superintendents, Owners, Architects and trade partners to keep projects on time and within budget.

You'll coordinate costs, schedules, document control, and quality while growing your construction management knowledge in a collaborative, safety‑driven environment. Travel to active sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of construction experience preferred.
• Experience with a General Contractor is highly preferred.
• Internship or co-op experience may substitute for some experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and project management software: Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.
• Ability to travel locally or regionally as project needs required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager through all phases of commercial construction projects from award through final completion.
• Support field staff and maintain open communication with the Superintendent.
• Prepare and attend project meetings, draft agendas, and record minutes.
• Maintain project logs (RFIs, Submittals, PCOs) and track progress.
• Review contracts, drawings, and specifications to identify long lead items and critical paths.
• Distribute project schedules and ensure subcontractors have current scopes of work.
• Obtain permits and support pre-installation meetings.
• Develop and manage submittal logs, RFIs, and coordinate drawings.
