Job summary

Berglund Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager - Construction to help deliver projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will coordinate costs, schedules, document control, and quality, working with Project Managers, Superintendents, Owners, Architects, Consultants, and Trade Partners.

Report to the Project Manager. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of experience and a relevant degree, with proficiency in Procore and MS Project. Travel locally or regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of construction experience preferred.
• Experience with a General Contractor is highly preferred.
• Internship or co-op experience may substitute for some experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to travel locally or regionally as project needs required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager across all phases of commercial construction projects from award through final completion.
• Support field staff and communicate with the Superintendent.
• Prepare and attend project meetings, draft agendas, and record minutes.
• Maintain project logs (RFIs, Submittals, PCOs) and track progress.
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications; identify long lead items and critical paths.
• Distribute schedules and ensure subcontractors have current scopes of work.
• Obtain permits and support pre-installation meetings.
• Develop and manage submittal logs, RFIs, and drawings coordination.
• Ensure subcontractor contracts, insurance, and bonds are current before work begins.
• Support bid evaluations and subcontractor buyouts.
• Execute payment applications and assist with quality take-offs; review invoices.
• Distribute punch lists and assemble closeout documents.
