Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group in Cambridge, MA seeks a Nursing Manager to lead the veterinary nursing team and shape the hospital’s emergency care culture. You will empower staff, drive clinical excellence, and foster a collaborative environment where VEGgies grow and contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes.

You will oversee operations, mentorship, licensure compliance, and strategic initiatives while aligning with hospital leadership and VEG values.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician in the practice state.
• 5+ years in clinical veterinary nursing; emergency experience preferred.
• 2+ years in leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day flow for nursing team with tools and support.
• Oversee scheduling, payroll, productivity, hiring, onboarding and offboarding.
• Address patient care issues and team dynamics with empathy and clarity.
• Partner with hospital leadership to align goals and flow.
• Use doctor feedback to guide team development and maintain medical excellence.
• Lead with VEG values: openness, togetherness, heroic helping.
• Champion learning with in-house training, mentorship, and development pathways.
• Ensure licensure, performance standards, and education programs are upheld.
• Drive meaningful 1:1s, check-ins, and student mentorship for career growth.
