Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group in Cambridge, MA is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be with the team from day one, supporting triage, treatments, and client communication in a fast-paced ER setting.

You’ll work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians, gain CPR training, and pursue pathways to anesthesia, ultrasound, and advanced duties through guided training; full-time, rotating shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ year in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Proficient with practice management software and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with clinicians.
• Manage IV fluids, blood products, and medication administration.
• Support care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Join patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER certification with training.
• Grow into advanced roles like anesthesia support and ultrasound.
