Job summary

VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be at the heart of the action from day one—support your team, comfort pet parents, and learn on the fly. You’ll participate in triage, treatments, and anesthesia support as you grow.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across outpatient and inpatient care, CPR training, and clear pathways to credentialed technician roles with strong mentorship and growth opportunities within a vibrant ER environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program is a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and vets on anesthesia and sedation setups.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, transfusions, and meds.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Join rounds and maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification training.
• Grow into advanced tasks like anesthesia support and ultrasound.
