Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant for our Columbia, MD location. Join a fast-growing emergency team dedicated to exceptional patient and client care, with a culture focused on growth and learning.

You will work closely with licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in a dynamic, compassionate setting. You’ll perform nursing care tasks, triage patients, administer medications, and assist with anesthesia under supervision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Treat each patient and customer with compassion and care.
• Perform basic to intermediate nursing care tasks and patient monitoring.
• Triage incoming patients using understanding of diseases and monitoring parameters.
• Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and monitor effects.
• Set up and monitor intravenous fluid therapy and blood transfusion therapy.
• Collaborate with licensed veterinary technicians as part of the nursing care team.
