Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team during the front-half of the week. Schedule is from 7am to 7pm including Sun-Tues and every other Wednesday.

Compensation ranges from $22.50 to $32.80 per hour with competitive shift differentials. You will triage emergency cases, assist DVM with estimates, diagnostics, ICU or Inpatient care, and communicate with clients about care plans and discharge instructions.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for emergency patients in a veterinary setting.
• Ability to assist DVMs with diagnosing and treatment plans.
• Strong communication skills with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency patients and assist nursing care according to hospital standards.
• Stock and maintain ER/ICU areas and ensure cleanliness.
• Administer medications under supervision; monitor therapeutic responses.
• Perform radiography and basic lab work; assist with physical exams and vitals.
• Explain estimates and discharge instructions to clients; participate in CPR protocols as assigned.
