Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant for our Emergency team. The role covers the front half of the week with a 7am–7pm schedule (Sun-Tue and every other Wed).

Compensation ranges from $22.50 to $32.80 per hour plus shift differentials, with 4-hour minimums for differential eligibility. The job involves triaging emergencies, assisting DVMs, performing diagnostics, ICU/inpatient setup, patient discharge, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Emergency veterinary care experience preferred.
• Ability to triage emergencies and communicate with clients effectively.
• Proficiency in radiography and basic lab work required.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing care according to hospital standards.
• Stock and maintain ER/ICU areas.
• Understand medications, monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications under guidance of a DVM/LVT.
• Perform radiography and basic lab work.
